First Dayzs - 12 Dayzs of Christmas #1

The radio turned itself on to a particularly annoying talk show, and Lois woke. She stretched out an arm, batted the 'snooze' button and burrowed back into the covers - last night's stakeout had taken itself into the early hours of the morning, and she wasn't too sure she welcomed the return to consciousness just yet.

A little later, a soft kiss again woke her. "Lois ... I've got to go - are you going to wake up?" Clark nudged her shoulder - the only thing visible under the covers.

"What?" mumbled Lois.

Clark laughed quietly and nudged her again. "Come on, sleepyhead, time to wake up! I've made you some coffee, it's on the table here don't knock it over. I have to go - I have that interview to do at City Hall this morning, remember?"

"Oh ... yes .... ok .... I'll see you later ...." replied Lois, struggling to wake up. Clark bent down and kissed her forehead, the tip of her nose, and finally her mouth.

"Happy Anniversary - I wish I could've taken the day off as well, but I should be back by lunchtime. I love you. "

"I love you too" murmured Lois indistinctly, kissing him back. Clark pulled away reluctantly, and left the apartment before he could change his mind and tell Perry what he could do with his urgent request - the sort you didn't, couldn't, ignore - for the interview.

Lois stretched and untangled herself from the bed covers. She got out of bed and padded across the carpet to the bathroom, where she showered and brushed her teeth. She dressed, pulling on a pair of grey trousers and a dark red cashmere jumper. Picking up the mug from the table, she wandered into the kitchen to reheat the coffee. As she listened to the hum of the microwave she gazed around the room, and caught sight of a parcel on the table. Curious, she crossed to the table. A tag on the parcel read "Happy Fifth Anniversary - the serious gift comes later! I love you, Clark".

The coffee forgotten, Lois tore open the wrapping to find a picture frame. She turned it over and laughed as she realised that, instead of a picture or photograph, Clark had framed a menu from the FudgeCastle's ice-cream parlour. The microwave beeped, and Lois retrieved her coffee.

Taking the coffee and the framed menu through into the main room, Lois sat on the couch and sipped the coffee, reading the familiar list. Chocolate Blackout Cake, Toffee Crunch Pie, Chocolate FudgeBrownies, Cheesecake, Chocaholics Sundae .... she laughed to herself as she remembered the last time she and Clark had gone to the FudgeCastle - they'd shared a Chocaholics Sundae between them, layers of chocolate and vanilla ice-cream, with hot chocolate fudge sauce and topped with chocolate vermicelli. Clark had fed spoonfuls of the dessert to her as they talked, but the conversation had soon trailed off and the few blocks walk home had been accomplished rather more quickly than usual ...

Lois looked at the list of take-out ice-cream flavours and, reading slowly down, felt memories come flooding into her mind. The first flavour was Chunky Monkey - banana ice-cream with walnut and chocolate - and her mind slipped back a little over 5 years ...

Perry leaned round the door to his office "Lois! Kent! Ok, this is fine," he said, waving some paper, "now, get out of here before I have to get security to throw you out! I don't know what hours you've been pulling on this, and I don't want to know! Go get some sleep!" He watched Lois and Clark laugh and say goodbye, then grinned to himself before turning back into his office.

Leaving the building, Clark took Lois' hand, and they began to walk back to Lois' apartment. Not far from the Planet, they passed the Fudge Castle. Clark stopped suddenly and, telling Lois to wait, ran inside. Lois began to follow him in, wondering what emergency he'd heard, but stopped, smiled, and went back outside when she realised he was simply buying a tub of ice-cream. He rejoined her a minute or so later, and took her hand again.

"Come on, lets get back before this melts - this isn't quite the celebration I had planned, but somehow our plans seem to disappear into thin air at the moment, so ... we may not be in Paris, this may not be French cuisine, but if we don't do something to celebrate this engagement now, we'll be married before we get round to the celebration!" said Clark, increasing the pace at which they were walking slightly. Lois smiled, wondering whether she should be upset that they were celebrating their engagement after they were supposed to have been married, then decided to worry about that later and simply enjoy Clark's good mood. She had her own ideas about a way in which to celebrate their engagement, but she thought she could incorporate Clark's suggestion ...

"What flavour did you get?" she asked.

"It's a surprise" teased Clark.

"Chocolate?" guessed Lois.

"No"

"Double Chocolate Chip?"

"No"

"Chocolate Fudge?"

"No ... and you're not going to guess, so you may as well give up" smiled Clark. Lois laughed and let it go - she'd find out soon enough, and if it pleased him to tease her, she'd live with it - for now.

Back at her apartment, Clark took off his jacket and tie, and made a light dinner whilst Lois changed and began to help with the meal preparations - her role in making meals tended to be salad-chef, as that didn't involve the application of heat to defenceless food, and she was becoming quite proud of her creations. They ate - herb omlettes, salad, and French bread. Lois stacked the plates in the dishwasher, and went to sit on the sofa at Clark's urging. He opened the fridge and, back turned to Lois so that she couldn't see what the tub that he was opening contained, he spooned the contents into two bowls, and turned around, placing them on the coffeetable with a certain flourish.

Lois looked curiously at the bowl. "What is this?" she asked, dipping her spoon into it.

"What do you think it is?" asked Clark. Lois took a spoonful and tasted it.

"Banana? And these pieces look like chocolate ... they are chocolate! It's nice" she said, taking another spoonful.

"Well, I could hardly buy ice cream without *some* chocolate in it!" laughed Clark "And the ice cream seemed appropriate to the occasion... you are, after all, top banana in this relationship - isn't that what you said some time ago?". He grinned at her.

Lois thought for a minute, then remembered her comment at the beginning of their first assignment together, and laughed. She smiled at Clark and said "Mmm .... and you said you understood that I like to be on top ...". Her voice trailed off as she held Clark'sgaze, watching the thoughts flitting across his face as her comment sank in, and he tried to judge whether she meant what he thought, and hoped, she meant. She smiled, a slightly lop-sided smile, and leaned over and kissed him.

Clark kissed her back lightly, watching her, wary of misinterpreting her actions. Lois smiled a little more at his nervousness, took his spoon out of his hand and placed it in the bowl, then put the bowl back on the table, next to hers. Balancing herself with a hand against his chest, she leant against him and kissed him, harder this time. Clark returned the kiss, relaxing as though content to follow her lead, and gently nudged her lips apart with his tongue before beginning a thorough exploration of her mouth, nibbling her lips gently. He held her waist, pulling Lois closer, and she sighed with pleasure and matched his exploration, extending it to his chest as she ran her hands over him, playing with the buttons of his shirt and dipping her fingers inside to touch his skin. As Clark moved his kisses from her mouth to her jaw, Lois tipped her head back slightly and began to tug at the buttons, pulling the shirt open to gain better access. Clark nuzzled her neck as she ran her hands over his skin, opening the shirt to his waist. With slow, firm strokes she caressed him, bringing her hands back upwards, grazing his nipples with her thumbnail. Clark groaned and buried his face in the crook of her neck and murmured "Lo-is ...", his voice cracking slightly.

"Mmm?" Lois kissed the join of his neck and shoulder "What?" Clark pulled himself up and looked at her, his hands at her sides gently stroking her through her silk t-shirt. He searched her face, looking for answers to questions he hadn't asked, and seemed content with what he found as she looked steadily at him trying to let her expression reassure him. He caught her hands and stood up, pulling her with him. Lois looked up, and he lowered his head, kissing her quickly before turning and leading her to her bedroom. As they reached the bed, the room illuminated only by the full moon shining through the window, Clark stopped and stood looking at Lois, standing in the soft light. She gazed back at him, letting him set the pace now. Eventually he reached out and gently cupped her face with one hand, letting it fall slowly downwards, tracing the line of her chin, her throat, her shoulder. He moved a little closer, kissing her, and slid his hands under the hem of Lois' t-shirt. He held her waist for a moment, deepening the kiss and softly caressing her skin with his thumbs before moving his hands upwards, lifting the silk up to her breasts, pausing there briefly to caress her again, and then, breaking the kiss, lifted the t-shirt over her head. He dropped it on the floor beside them, and again looked at her. Lois stood, arms at her side, and watched him looking at her, fighting the urge to both touch him and cover herself, suddenly a little shy.

His hands shaking slightly, Clark reached for her again. "You're perfect" he whispered into her mouth as he began to kiss her again. His hands played over her back, skimming over the skin, until he reached the waistband of her trousers. He dipped his fingers under it and traced the line of her waist to the front, where he undid the button and lowered the zip fastner. Breaking the kiss again he watched Lois' reaction, uncertainty clearly visible in his eyes. Lois kissed him briefly and pushed the trousers down, stepping out of them and into his arms. Clark swallowed.

Lois gave into the need to touch him and pulled his shirt free, then slid it off his shoulders, running her hands down his arms to push it further down, letting it fall to the floor unnoticed. Lightly massaging and kneading, she traced the muscles in Clark's arms back up to his shoulders. Clark pulled her closer still, until she rested against his chest. Bending slightly to meet her mouth, he moved his hands to her back, fumbling with the strap to her bra ... then gave up, looking at her with a slightly perplexed look on his face. Lois smiled and stepped away a pace, flicking open the catch at the front.

Clark returned her smile and gently pushed the straps from her shoulders and down her arms, then simply stood and looked at her again for a moment. Lois felt herself colouring with another wave of shyness, worrying about what he was thinking until she saw the hot gaze in Clark's eyes. The fire there burned away the self-consciousness and she stepped closer to him, until they met and he folded his arms around her to embrace her again, the feeling of skin against skin arousing them both still further. Lois slid her hands into the waistband of Clark's trousers, imitating his earlier action, opening the buttons of the fly and pushing the material downwards. Clark kicked his trousers away, and they stood in a close embrace, legs slightly entwined, holding each other close. Clark rested his forehead against Lois', his breathing erratic and becoming more so as he listened to her racing heartbeat.

They stood like that for a little while, regaining a little of the control they were both losing, then Clark stepped back, felt the edge of the bed against his legs, and, picking Lois up, turned and lay her on the covers. She looked back up at him, her lips slightly parted, and lifted her arms to pull him down with her. He slid over her, his skin barely touching hers, and they lay, simply revelling in the feel of each other, until Clark reached for Lois' mouth and kissed her. He began to touch her again, exploring her with his hands and mouth, moving down to her breasts, taking a nipple into his mouth, then sucking a little harder to take more in.

Lois arched into the kiss, pushing herself up to his mouth, and whimpered a little as he teased her with his tongue, at the slight roughness lapping around the taut nub. Lois put her arms around his waist as he gave the same attention to her other breast, and smoothed her hands over him, running them down to the back of his thighs, then back up, catching the elastic of his briefs to slide her hand under them and pushing them down slightly. Clark checked her movements and rolled away, removing the briefs before returning to kneel over her again, the twinges of self-consciousness he felt at the loss of that final barrier quickly lost in the admiration and shades of uncertainty he saw in Lois' eyes.

Unsure what to say to ease her doubts, and his own, he kissed her neck, and then laid a trail of small nipping kisses down over her to her waist, nuzzling her navel, and finally trailing kisses along the waistband of her panties. He sat back a little, and pulled them down over her legs, always watching Lois, trying to gauge how she was feeling. Lois held his gaze, then reached for him, pulling him down over her. Clark pressed against her and caught her moans with his mouth, kissing her and stroking her mouth with his tongue, his hands moving over her. Lois tried to pull him closer still, rubbing her foot against his calf, and shifting against his obvious desire for her. Clark lifted his head and placed a finger against her lips, slowing them both as he tried to restrain the desire threatening to push them faster than they would be comfortable with later.

"Wait a minute ... wait, love" Lois protested inarticulately, but Clark held still. "I need to know ... have to know ... that you really want this" he said, continuing as Lois looked at him with a mixture of arousal and frustration, "you wanted us to wait, you said you had fears ... I don't want us to do anything that could hurt you in any way." He paused and then smiled a little ruefully, the warmth in his eyes flooding through Lois. "Although stopping now may well hurt me" he laughed. Lois chuckled, and pulled him closer to her.

She sighed gently. "I did have some fears, but I think I've worked through them. Right now, I need you." She kissed him briefly, then explained a little more. "We should have been married by now - this conversation shouldn't have been needed, and I just can't wait. I don't want to wait, I don't think I need to wait. I'm probably being a little fatalistic, but I need you. And I do mean you, not just this" she gestured with her hands, indicating the two of them together. "Just ... take it slowly, please? And don't expect too much ..." her voice trailed off at Clark's expression, but her pleading look silenced the words he wanted to say. Lois was as well aware as Clark that the conversation wasn't over, simply postponed for a more opportune moment, and she let her hands slide down his body in a smooth caress, deliberately stoking the fires between them that had been banked in the short exchange.

Clark sighed but this time couldn't deny her desires, or his own, and responded to her touch by rolling over taking Lois over with him, so that she lay on his chest, legs straddling his hips. "Like this?" she asked "Are you sure ... ?"

Clark nodded. "I'm ... er ... I'm ..". He stopped and tried again. "I'm not quite sure exactly how, well, no, I know how, but it's .. " he trailed off, swallowed and said in a rush "I know the theory but the practice is, well, not practised, and I'm afraid I'll hurt you. This way you can control things ..." he trailed off again, and Lois realised he was blushing, his face reddening in the moonlight. She smiled, kissed him, a soft, lingering kiss, intending to comfort but becoming incendiary as she shifted against him, teasing him with movements of her hips.

"You couldn't hurt me" she murmured and, as both she and Clark realised, without quite knowing how, that her words were true, all final doubts evaporated and her smile widened slightly. "But we can start this way ..." Clark caught the back of her head and pulled her to him for a deep kiss that had rapidly escalated their arousal. As Lois came up for air, panting slightly, she sat up, placed her hands on Clark's chest and lifted her hips a little, his erection rising with her. Lois rocked herself against the length of him for a moment and, as he groaned, lifted further. Supporting herself on one hand, she took Clark in her other hand and gently guided him in, stroking him lightly as she did so. She placed her hand back on his chest and bent down to kiss him, her tongue slipping between his lips in encouragement, then gasped as Clark took her hint and then took it further, sucking gently as she teased his mouth. He held her hips and pushed up into her a little, the interplay of their mouths feeding his arousal. Lois lowered herself further onto him, feeling the hot length sliding into her, joining them. Now she groaned, and her arms threatened to buckle. Clark placed his hands on her shoulders, helping to support her. She took him in fully, and they held for a moment, not moving, savouring the feel of completeness.

Clark shook slightly as the emotion of the moment threatened to overwhelm him and pulled Lois down onto his chest, resting his head against hers, whispering almost inaudibly a stream of reassurances of his love for her as he nuzzled her hair. After a little while, she lifted her head, her eyes damp as she smiled tremulously at him, his words moving her more than she could say. Clark brushed away the tear that threatened to spill from her eyes, his hand then moving to curl around her face.

"I love you" he said, his voice quiet in the still of the room.

Lois drew in a shuddering breath, her eyes filling again, then brought herself back under some semblence of control. "I know" she whispered, "I love you too". She reached down to kiss him. Clark met her mouth and deepened the kiss, his fingers stroking down to her arms as he held her. He started to move gently against her, slowly picking up the pace until he broke the kiss and let his head drop back against the pillow as he lost himself in the feel of her.

Lois pressed down a little more, and rocked her hips in small circles, first in rhythm with Clark then, as his movements grew stronger, against his pace. As she felt herself growing taut around Clark, she leant down to kiss his chest. Clark moaned at her touch, closed his eyes, and held the back of her head as he pushed their rhythm still faster.

"Lois ... I'm sorry ... I can't ... wait ..." he gasped and rose slightly from the bed, levitating in an effort to divert some of his attention, to delay his climax. "Don't wait" urged Lois, pushing harder against him, "ohh .... don't wait!". Clark opened his eyes to see her sit up, her hands on his chest, throw her head back and felt her starting to contract around him. Lois bit her bottom lip, and looked down to see Clark watching her. Clark watched her eyes glaze but, before he had time to do more than register the suprise in her face, his control broke and he poured himself into Lois, her surprise mirrored in his expression at the sensation. They watched each other climax, the sight of the other losing control increasing the flood of sensations and emotions, each softly chanting the other's name

Lois sank onto Clark's chest, breathing heavily and feeling herself rise and fall with Clark's own panting. He put his arms around her, trying to steady himself, and she lifted her head a little. He kissed her lower lip, which had swollen and appeared slightly bruised from the pressure with which she had bitten it. "I love you" he said, his voice ragged with the tremors still shuddering through him and the exhausted exhilaration he felt.

"I know ... I love you too" came the soft reply. "More than you could possibly know." Lois smiled at him, a wealth of emotion in her dark eyes. "Thank you" she whispered, her voice intense with an emotion Clark felt in himself but didn't wholly recognise.

"Thank *you*" replied Clark in a tone to match hers as he held her close and, still inside her, turned them both and sank back onto the bed, so that they lay on their sides facing each other. As they exchanged lingering gentle kisses, Clark noticed tears on Lois' face and brushed them away with his thumb as she drifted to sleep. He lay awake watching her for a while longer, the perfect memories of what they'd just shared overwhelming the questions, until he eventually joined Lois in sleep.

Lois' mind returned to the present, and, with a soft rueful smile on her face, shook her head as though amazed at herself then carried on reading the ice-cream menu ....
