As I watched I started to watch out for Clark's ties, wondering just how many ties the man actually owns ... and so I came up with this idea - watch all the episodes from the 'Premiere' to 'And The Answer Is' ... (I know, what hardship I endure :) and draw each of Clark's ties the first time it appears, and also note the subsequent episodes in which each tie appears. So I did that ... and a few more ... and now, after a long hiatus, the definitive update is underway again ...

Note: this only covers Clark's 'real' ties - I've ignored bow ties, ribbon ties etc for a number of reasons. Have you ever tried to work out whether two black bow ties worn 3 years apart are in fact the same one?

First for some statistics ...

• of these, 54 appear for the first time in the first season ...
• ... and 15 appear for the first time in the second season
• 28 ties are worn once only in the first two seasons (Lois obviously didn't like them ...)
• the 'lost in the sock drawer' award goes to tie #12 - worn in Strange Visitor and then not seen again until And The Answer Is ...
• the average number of ties worn by Clark in an episode is 3.75
• the most number of ties worn by Clark in an episode is 7 - in the Premiere
• the least number of ties worn by Clark in an episode is 0 - Lord of the Flys, Battleground Earth, Soulmates (unless you count the black ribbon tie worn by Clark's telegraph clerk persona ... which I don't :)
• Lois wears one of Clark's ties once - #56, in Seasons Greedings
• the 'separated at birth' award goes to ties #59 and #75 - these have the same pattern in different colours!

To be kind to those who don't want to see all the ties at one go (which, in any case, I wouldn't advise for those prone to suffering from sensory overload :) I've divided them into groups of 12. The ties are numbered in chronological order of first appearance, with details of which episodes they've featured in - the number before the episode title indicates whether the tie was the first, second, third etc worn in that episode. The drawings are somewhat stylised representations, for a number of reasons - including the limitations of my eyes, my video and my patience :)
