What I'm reading: Justice Hall (Laurie R King) - The latest, and perhaps weakest, of LRK's Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes novels. Russell is rather irritatingly lacking in self-confidence; if this is what marriage to Holmes has done to her, then heaven help her. The book perhaps suffers from being set far too close to the previous novels in time - there is no real opportunity for the characters and their relationship to develop. Whilst the point of the books is not, by this time, the relationship it should still be a factor. Despite the criticism, I am enjoying the book - but I would recommend that newcomers to the series start with one of the other novels - preferably The Beekeeper's Apprentice, the first in the series.
Websites I'm looking at: Google's Zeitgeist - Fascinating stuff!
What I'm listening to: Sao Vincente de Longe, by Cesaria Evora. Music from Cabo Vedre, the style is called morna - part Cuban, part fado, part jazz; an amazing fusion of sounds lifted and enriched by Evora's voice.
